A social media agency at the $1,800/month price point does roughly 4 things. They write 12 posts a month for you. They schedule them. They occasionally reply to comments. They send you a monthly PDF with vanity metrics and a Loom of the account manager explaining why engagement is flat.

We know because we've replaced eight of them for our clients. Not because agency work is bad — some of it is really good — but because the shape of the work is a poor fit for what a local business actually needs. A local plumber, a med spa, a restaurant, a car dealer: their content pipeline should be automatic, on-brand, and honest, and should cost about 10% of what they're paying.

The 8 post types, and why they work

MyPost Social rotates through eight archetypes so no two posts in a row look like each other:

  1. Bold Hook — a claim that stops the scroll ("Half the plumbers in Albany won't touch a tankless water heater. Here's why we do.")
  2. Pain Point — a customer problem, named specifically ("Your AC is short-cycling every 4 minutes. That's not a thermostat problem.")
  3. Pro Tip — something useful that establishes expertise ("Never flush wet wipes, even the ones labeled 'flushable'. Here's what happens 30 feet down the line.")
  4. Success Story — a real customer win, drawn from your reviews ("Cathy in Loudonville had 4 leaks in a month. We found the pinhole on the first visit.")
  5. Promotion — a current offer with a real expiration ("$99 tune-up through end of month, includes coolant top-off.")
  6. Industry Insight — a stat with source ("The average HVAC unit runs 12 minutes longer per cycle than 5 years ago. Manufacturers know why.")
  7. Engagement — a question your audience actually has an opinion on ("Set the thermostat to 68 or 72 when you go on vacation?")
  8. Before & After — a real transformation from your job log

What the AI won't do

Here's the piece competitors get wrong: MyPost Social only posts what's true. If we don't have a Bold Hook this week (because your business hasn't given us anything bold to hook on), we skip the Bold Hook. If you've had no promotions and no new reviews, we skip Promotion and Success Story. If you have no source material for Industry Insight, we don't invent a fake statistic and cite a fake study.

This is the point every AI content generator gets wrong. GPT-based tools will happily fabricate a customer testimonial. We won't. Every claim in every post has to trace back to either your website copy, your real reviews, an active promotion in your CRM, or a web source we've verified. When we don't have source material, we skip that post type that week. The rotation just goes shorter for a week. That's it.

The reason our posts don't sound like AI-generated content is that they're not permitted to lie.

The one week it doesn't beat a human writer

Once every 5-8 weeks, something happens at your business that requires a piece of writing with real feeling. You lost a longtime employee. A regular customer sent a tearjerker thank-you letter. Your community got hit with a storm and you're offering free service to first responders. The AI can generate an announcement, but the announcement will read as competent, not as heartfelt.

That's the week you write the post yourself, or you have your GM write two paragraphs and we clean it up. It takes 15 minutes. Every other week — 51 out of 52 — MyPost Social ships.

What agencies do that we don't

Agencies do relationship. If your account manager is good, they'll notice trends in your comments, escalate a bad review, spot a competitor doing something clever. MyPost Social doesn't do that; it publishes and reports. If you want relationship, you stay with the agency and use MyPost as the production layer. Some of our clients do exactly that.

But if what you actually want is "post 12 things a month that don't sound stupid and don't misrepresent us" — that's a $199/mo problem. Not a $1,800/mo problem.
